SKS Rockabilly themed party in Berlin brings tax advisors into the rock 'n' roll era

On 5 June 2024, we had a really good time at the SKS spring party in Berlin.

And if you are in the mood for a repeat of our great success on that evening, here is our recipe:

We take some good-natured Rockabillies looking chic in their vintage leather jackets, some charming Rockabellas swinging their puffy skirts in a rock 'n' roll dance, delicious treats, lots of drinks for all tastes, exciting music and lots of competitions. The result will be an unforgettable Rockabilly corporate event that everyone will remember forever.

We'll keep the details of how we spent the evening to ourselves, but we'll give you a glimpse behind the scenes:

Arriving in Berlin, the Dresden team quickly changed and wowed everyone on their way to the party with their spectacular 50's style outfits. At the appointed time, the Berlin team was waiting for them at the chic Fredericks venue in equally chic retro looks!

They greeted us with delicious snacks, sweet aperitifs and a great show of live music. This was followed by a variety of singers and an exciting 50's inspired dance show, which we were delighted to take part in. Under the clear guidance of a professional dancer, we swayed to the beat of the music, chatted a lot and were finally invited up on stage to sing karaoke ourselves.

In at least three voices, we sang our favourite songs loudly, crookedly, but always with enthusiasm, right up until the last minute of the evening! When it was time to give our vocal cords a rest, we tested our knowledge in the SKS tax quiz, played fun games like guessing the song read out by AI, and posed for a caricaturist who drew our portraits.

We had a great time and can't wait to see what's in store for us at the SKS Autumn Event on 27 September 2024!

Our first SKS spring party 2023

I look back on our first SKS spring party with a big smile. Yes, we decided to sweeten the warmer and more relaxed months with outings by only celebrating the time-honoured Christmas party on a "small" scale, but all the bigger a spring and autumn party.

Just in time for Easter, Dorit unpacked the programme as a surprise. The intensive preparation and compilation of the events was so worth it!

On a beautiful spring day, 5.5.2023, we all met in Leipzig. In a good mood and fresh, we started on a very different city tour: true or false? - The Leipzig tour of lies. We learned a lot about Bach, Goethe, Leipzig trade and much more in an entertaining and historical way. Tobi had the highest hit rate in debunking the lies - well done.

We had earned our refreshment at the Bavarian Railway Station and enjoyed the delicacies. Afterwards we went to the Störmthaler See, a beautiful lake, artificially created from an open-cast mine. Here we had a lot of work to do: in 4 teams we first of all dragged logs and boards, which we transformed into high-quality rafts. The construction required a lot of talking and individual works of art were indeed created. Luckily, all the constructions could float, because after we had duly "christened" our rafts, we had a race. What wet fun. Luckily it was around 20 degrees. The award ceremony belonged to the deserving winners, the "SKS SteuerBieraten".

After this highlight, we took a break at the hotel and met up again refreshed for dinner at the Vodkaria in Leipzig. The food took a back seat to the extensive, fantastic range of vodka on offer. Traditionally, the evening ended in a self-initiated mini-disco with a small box in the hotel's rooftop bar - for a few even in a "real" location with the hits of the 90s.

The morning breakfast and the return journey to Dresden and Berlin were then relatively quiet. Everyone reflected on the wonderful experiences. Once again it was a great SKS day. Everything worked out - many thanks to Dorit for the excellent preparation! It was a lot of fun and brought our team spirit forward again. We are already looking forward to the autumn party.

Our SKS Christmas party 2022

Phew - it was nice and cold this year for our SKS Christmas party! Once again, we had chosen just the right thing: the right place at the right time...

On 16.12.2022 we started early from Berlin and Dresden south to the mountains: to Oberwiesenthal (affectionately called "O-Thal" in preparation). A wonderful snowy landscape got us in the mood for the eventful day as soon as we arrived. After a short check-in at the most beautiful wellness hotel on the place and after slipping into our warm snow clothes, we were welcomed by our guide and warmed up with the first challenge - the team schnapps drinking synchronously from a wide wooden pole. Here you could see right away who already had good experience with this. After this little fun, we could prove ourselves in 3 more wooden activities: nailing, stacking and sawing. As always with us SKSers, there was a lot of laughter, a lot of ambition and snappy sayings. Then we left the valley behind us and took the cable car up the mountain Fichtelberg. A formative experience for some. Once we arrived at the highest mountain in Saxony, we immediately started our snow hike, which was accompanied by lively snowball traffic and a mulled wine and wooden throwing break. But now came the highlight: we whizzed back down into the valley on a toboggan to swing back to the hotel on the steam train. The fresh air had such an effect on some of us that the train ride was quiet - some even took a nap.

In the evening, we enjoyed delicious food, cheerful conversations and colourful cocktails. A very nice moment was when everyone presented their "best of SKS" of the year 2022 and then received a lovingly chosen Secret Santa gift. Such appreciation among each other is the best thing you can have as a team. Closer to the night, we had an active Christmas quiz and enjoyed our time together.

At breakfast (which some of us started really early) and on the return trip the next morning, the funniest and most beautiful moments were certainly shared again. And of course they are also documented on photos...

Visit to the Hall of Game on 16 September 2022

Until now, we thought our autumn games evenings were already legendary, with Mafia gambling into the night. But now we have outdone ourselves with a special kind of games evening!

On a changeable, chilly Friday morning, our Berliners made their way to Dresden - to the Valley of the Clueless. And this time, almost everyone (except me, of course) had no idea what to expect. The announcement email only said that we would play some kind of games for 3 hours (!)...

And so it actually was - and not just 3 hours, but 4 hours. We all met at the "Hall of Game" (https://hallofgame.de  - highly recommended!!!) on the Weißen Hirsch in Dresden. After a blue welcome drink, we were randomly divided into 6 teams. And the games could begin! On 2 floors we weighed, estimated, fevered, felt, rolled, clicked, pushed and shot each other to the death. Some of us showed previously unrecognised talents (so Isabel is good at stacking sticks), previously unused skills (Dorit has a gift for weighing) and previously unseen ambition ("well of course we'll definitely win"). It was a great pleasure to solve the changing tasks in the team as quickly as possible or as best as possible. There was something for everyone: good estimation skills, dexterity, athleticism and even handling the plastic gun "Nerf" were in demand. And at the end, our team leader Lukas had worked out an SKS quiz together with me, in which we put some events and facts of the last 12 years to the test. The award ceremony was of course celebrated extensively and everyone got an SKS medal.

After 4 hours we were really hungry and enjoyed the 3-course menu that was waiting for us. Afterwards, the extroverted part of our troop met after a short break to freshen up in the night club "Downtown" in Dresden. The party night started with an SKS ice cream cake - Tobi, thanks again. And then we couldn't stop: the dance floor was open. When the last of us started our way home around 4:30 a.m., I finally fell asleep, happily summing up.

Trip to the climbing park on 24 June 2022

On June 24, 2022, we SKSers went up high.

It was a very sunny day, hot, dry, sticky. Best conditions to visit a climbing park in the middle of Berlin. Planned - done. With as little clothing as possible, but all the more sunscreen, we met in Mitte district of Berlin. After putting on our safety harnesses and helmets, we already felt like real professionals. The short briefing was followed by a test turn on the floor and a few easy routes on the first floor. Pretty quickly we were drawn further up.

On the second and third floors we tested our skills: shimmying at dizzy heights, climbing on a sloping climbing wall, riding bikes, balancing on thin timbers and taking a seat in the beach chair at the very top to linger and enjoy the view. Our hands suffered a little, they are usually only used to typing... To come down we used the "short way" over the free fall. Natali dared to be the first to go down – many of us followed!

A small group of colleagues, who didn't really want to enjoy the climbing, played beach volleyball with full dedication. Some even played until their knees gave out or their pants ripped and beyond.

After the sporting part, we met in the beach bar, enjoyed a snack and cool drinks. As night fell, the fire was lit and conversations flew in all directions.

It was a great afternoon and a wonderful evening. Thanks to Nelly for the amazing organization.

ReWe Team Challenge on 25 May 2022

Obviously, we sporty SKS people are also taking part in the Dresden ReWe Team Challenge. Last year we took a break, two years ago we took part in the digital run and were even more looking forward to the real experience this year.

We started with 2 mixed teams with individual motivation. Some of us started training only a few days (or hours) before the run. Some others had set up a training plan at the start of the year and followed through. The results were accordingly - fast guys at SKS, amazing!

It was once again a great event for our provincial Dresden. It was fun and it was certainly healthy for the body. We are very proud! Elisabeth

11. May 2022

Our SKS Christmas Party - on May 11, 2022 with sunshine and 28 degrees

Following the motto "what lasts long - gets better and better and better", we set off from Dresden and the various parts of Berlin on 11 May to start our real reunion for the last two years with a first morning coffee at the SKS office in Berlin. It is fair to say that the journey was an experience in itself, on the Czech train with Czech beer - what can I say ...

Together we took public transport from the office through Berlin to the landing stage of our little steamer at the Caprivi Bridge. Enjoying the sunny weather, we took the 2-hour trip on the Spree to the government district and back. The water was lapping, the sunscreen was flowing and we were bubbling over with long pent-up conversation between our interesting SKS colleagues.

We then spent the afternoon getting out of escaperooms each in 5 groups of 5. Mixed up as we were, solving the puzzles required not only trying out creative thinking ideas but also practising clear communication of terms. It was fun! At least I can announce that everyone found out in one piece and - if only just, but ahead of time.

Afterwards, we used the short break at the hotel to relax, refresh ourselves and, of course, get dressed up for a visit to the Georgian restaurant "Genazvale". There we were presented with an excellent menu. However, because the life band was an absolute hit, we only got as far as the appetiser before storming the dance floor and dancing wildly: ALL of us (you wouldn't believe it).

It was an extraordinary evening and a great day with our top team.

A great thank you goes to Nelly for the ideas and the organisation. That was top! Yours, Elisabeth
